New Year, New Content, New Blog?

Hey everyone!

It has been a long time since I have updated my blog, longer than I would care to admit. The reason this page has been stagnant for a while is simply because life happened.

My last posts were in the beginning of April and May of 2018 and so much has happened in that time frame. I met an amazing guy and fell in love, changed career paths, and moved across the country to name a few things. I never imagined this is where life would take me, but I am so grateful! While I was dealing with all these changes my attention to this blog lessened more and more to the point I would feel guilty for not working on it and becoming overwhelmed trying to figure out how to juggle it all.

But with the beginning of 2019, I spent a lot of time reflecting on 2018 and how it was a challenging and memorable year. I realized that I still wanted to blog, but if I started writing again it would be very different. I wanted to have a wider scope to talk about. While I adore all things kitsch, it is difficult to keep a sustaining and interesting blog on such a narrow focus. Of course, Kitsch with Kate will still be a theme on this blog, I can never forget great alliteration. But this blog will now include all of my interests and not just kitsch. Having more freedom of topics will help make it more enjoyable for me to create content and make the blog more authentic as well.

With this change of vision for my blog I thought it would only be fitting to have a rename. As catchy as Kitsch with Kate is, I wanted a name that would be more fitting with this content shift. Since undergrad I always liked the term, wandering historian, as I felt that summed up my personal and academic life really well. It just seemed a natural decision to rename my blog “A Wandering Historian.”

I am excited for this new direction my blog is taking! And I am eager to strengthen my writing and dive back into topics I haven’t discussed in length since grad school. Here’s to 2019 being a year for adventure and discovery!

Let’s wander together!
